  • What is the minimum investment?
    You can invest from a minimum of £5,000.
  • Who can invest?
    Investing with UKBN is reserved for self-certified High Net Worth Individuals, Sophisticated Investors and Institutional Investors.
  • Can I sell my investments?
    All bonds with a term of 12 months or more can be sold by listing an Offer to Sell on the platform. Please note, however, that there are no guarantees that you will find a buyer, and so you should be prepared to invest for the whole term of the bond.
  • Are there any fees?
    We do not charge investors any fees to invest through our platform, nor currently for custody services.
  • Where is my money held?
    Your money is held in a segregated client account by our custodian, Jarvis Investment Management.
  • How do I deposit and withdraw funds?
    You can make a deposit by bank transfer or by debit card via our 'Transfer Money' page. Withdrawing your funds can be done in the same place and will typically take 3-5 working days.
  • Is UK Bond Network regulated?
    UK Bond Network is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, number 719193.
  • Is UK Bond Network covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)?
    In the absence of liability on the part of UKBN or Jarvis, funds invested in bonds are not covered by the FSCS where the issuer defaults or a bond is insolvent. Uninvested cash, however, is protected up to a maximum of £75,000, and negligence by UKBN or Jarvis may enable you to claim up to £50,000 on investments.
  • What type of bonds do you offer?
    Our bonds are traditional corporate bonds rather than retail bonds or 'mini-bonds'.

  • Who issues the bonds?
    These bonds are issued by private and listed SMEs from a wide range of sectors and locations across the UK.
  • What due diligence do you do?
    We complete a stringent due diligence process alongside independent legal counsel.
  • Are bonds secured?
    We will always seek security where possible, whether over cash or assets, to give investors protection. Details of the security offered is made clear in the bond details for every issue. All security is structured alongside independent legal advisors.
  • What rates of return can I expect?
    Interest rates are typically between 9% and 14% gross per annum.
  • What are the durations of the bonds?
    Our bonds have terms of between 1 and 5 years.
  • How often are repayments made?
    Repayment schedules are structured to suit the borrowing business. For example, if their revenue is contract-based and is paid quarterly, we will seek a quarterly repayment schedule. Repayments can also be monthly or semi-annually.
  • How are repayments managed?
    Issuers make their repayments to our custodian, Jarvis Investment Management, as per their repayment schedule. Repayments are then reconciled and applied pro rata to bondholders' account balances, at which point you will receive an email notification.
  • How does the UKBN ISA work?
    The UKBN ISA is an Innovative Finance ISA, which is a new type of ISA designed specifically for alternative investments. Only platforms who are fully authorised by the FCA can offer the Innovative Finance ISA and investors can only contribute to one platform's ISA per tax year.

    You can shelter up to £20,000 from income and capital gains tax this tax year. You can split your allowance between each of the three types of ISA (Cash ISA, Stocks & Shares ISA and Innovative Finance ISA) as you choose.

  • What is the 1% cashback bonus?
    If you opened a UKBN ISA before 1 June 2017, you will have earned a 1% cashback bonus on the first investment you make through your ISA. The offer applies to investments made in new bond issues as well as the purchase of bonds from other investors via the platform.

  • Can I withdraw money from my UKBN ISA?
    You can withdraw money from your UKBN ISA (or transfer it to a different ISA) provided that it is not currently invested. If you do withdraw money, you can replace it within the current tax year and it will still count towards your annual ISA subscription limit.
